For Baristas
Do I need to display wage ranges?
It's not mandatory, but we encourage transparency. Cafés that display wages earn the WFM Fair Wage badge, aligned with PayGap Asia standards—building trust with talent and customers.
How does WFM approach fair wages?
We align our wage floors with PayGap Asia standards, the region's leader in salary transparency. We promote transparency through the Fair Wage badge program and encourage cafés to display wage ranges openly.
How much can I earn?
Rates vary by tier: Rising (RM 15-18/hr), Skilled (RM 18-22/hr), Featured (RM 22-25/hr), Signature (RM 25-28/hr). You receive 100% of your base hourly wage—WFM's 15% fee is paid by the café.
How do I get paid?
We're piloting instant pay options for verified baristas. Standard payout is within 7 days after shift completion. Payment details are discussed during onboarding.
What are Coffee Parties?
Monthly gatherings (50-80 people) for skill-sharing, latte art practice, and community building. Plus quarterly throwdowns (150-250 people) with competitions and showcases. They're the cultural moat that makes WFM different—building community and loyalty, not just transactions.
What are career pathways and milestones?
Every 200 hours worked = milestone checkpoint for tier progression. At 1,000-2,000 hours, you unlock career tracks: Café Owner Program (funding to start your own café), Consultant Track (train baristas, audit operations), Roastery Operations, or Hotel F&B Management.
What is profit sharing?
Top 10% performers (by hours worked + ratings + community contributions) share 10% of WFM's annual profits. This creates an ownership mindset—you're not just earning wages, you're building equity in the ecosystem.
Can I choose my shifts?
Yes! You set your availability and preferred days/times. We match you to shifts that fit your schedule.
For Cafés
How does pricing work?
Simple: you pay the barista's base hourly wage + 15% WFM fee. Example: RM 20/hr barista = RM 23/hr total cost. The barista receives the full RM 20/hr. No EPF/SOCSO commitments—you only pay for hours actually worked.
What's the replacement guarantee?
If a confirmed barista can't make their shift, we'll send a replacement within 2 hours (pilot SLA). Contact us immediately via WhatsApp and we'll dispatch a backup.
Can I hire a barista full-time?
Yes! We support conversions to permanent staff. A conversion fee applies (discussed during onboarding). We want great matches—our goal is to help you find long-term talent when it makes sense.
What's the non-circumvention policy?
To protect the ecosystem, direct hiring outside WFM during active engagement requires a conversion fee. This ensures fairness for all parties and sustains the platform. Full details in our Terms & Conditions.
How do I request shifts?
During pilot: via WhatsApp with our team. We're building a self-service portal where you can request shifts, view barista profiles, and manage bookings.
What if I'm not happy with a barista?
Rate them after the shift. Low-rated baristas are flagged for review. If there's a serious issue, contact us immediately for resolution and possible replacement.

What's the tier system?
Rising (RM 15-18/hr, 0-1 yr), Skilled (RM 18-22/hr, 1-3 yrs), Featured (RM 22-25/hr, 3+ yrs), Signature (RM 25-28/hr, elite). Tiers are based on proof-of-work, experience, and café ratings. Every 200 hours = progression checkpoint.
What makes WFM different from other gig platforms?
Three things: (1) Marketplace with career pathways and profit sharing, not just transactions. (2) Culture—monthly gatherings and events build real community. (3) Fair Wage Governance—partnership with PayGap Asia ensures transparency and sustainability.
Is this a permanent job placement service?
No—we're an on-demand gig platform. Baristas work flexible shifts at multiple cafés. However, we support conversions when both parties want to transition to permanent roles.
